Putting Romania on the Map
Many years ago, I came across The Landmark Forum quite accidentally. A group of people passing me were having so much fun, I thought they were headed toward some museum or concert. I followed them to see what was happening, received a nametag, and walked right in. It turned out that the event was an Introduction to The Landmark Forum.
I had never heard about this course before, nor had I ever heard the subject matter of "one’s life being fulfilled” discussed quite so openly. It resonated so strongly with me. I didn’t know these were the kinds of conversations that people had in a public setting. Hearing what was spoken in terms of living your life fully, going after your dreams, a kind of methodology, and education designed to shift things that you’d felt were limiting you – really spoke to my heart. I chose to participate.
Since that time, I met and married David, a wonderful Irishman. We have three
beautiful children. At the time that I met my husband, I was living outside
Romania due to the communist regime, but after the government fell, we decided
to move back to Romania. I wanted to be part of the changes that were happening
in my country and part of forging a new and better life there. As you can
imagine, we were deeply affected by the economy and culture, as are all of the
people here. My husband and I opened, despite difficulties, two Irish pubs in
Bucharest. We have expanded and now have five companies.
I worked together with a graduate friend of mine to bring Landmark to Romania.
In the beginning we sent people to London, Paris and Frankfurt in order to build
up a base. I got trained to lead introductions and later on, to lead seminars.
David Ure, the Regional Landmark Forum leader for Europe, fully championed
us bringing The Landmark Forum to Romania and has been a “yes” every step of the
way. Since we had our first Landmark Forum here, we have had an assortment of
Landmark courses and training programs. Romania is now on the Landmark map!
